Cue Radio

Cue Radio is part of a news agency "Cue", which only broadcasts during the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. This year's National Arts Festival was from the 20th June 2010 to 4th July 2010. During this time we were given a chance to articulate ourselves creatively through sound, and we were also given a chance to anchor on one houre radio shows on Radio Grahamstown. Below is all the work I produced as an employee of Cue Radio.

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH BLK SONSHINE


Blk Sonshine is consists Neo Muyanga and Masauko Chipembere one of the most exciting and talked about duos to emerge in the last decade. Their music has is an extra ordinary blend of melodic and sometimes percussive acoustic guitars with hip hop, jazz and folk influences which results in their emotional music that defines and personifies the defying of musical boundaries.

4.48 PSYCHOSIS

Sarah Kane committed suicide shortly after writing what is said to be her suicide note, Psychosis 4.48. This is one of her shortest, most complex and fragmented theatrical works. Neliswa Ntanda talks to the director of this play: Zinzi Princess Mhlongo to find out how she went about directing this very challenging piece.

MICHAEL MACGARRY -THE 210 STANDARD BANK YOUND ARTIST AWARD WINNER FOR VISUAL ART.


Micheal MacGarry is the 2010 Standard Bank Young Artist Award winner for Visual Art. Neliswa Ntanda talks to him about his exhibition and what his future plans are, she also talks to Lindiwe Mntsikiza, the actor in one of his 15 minute films, Will to Power.

ESKOM POWER OUTAGE DURING THE NATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL


Yesterday’s Eskom power outage was unexpected and affected a number of shows, residents, and most food stalls. Neliswa Ntanda talks to: Tony Lankester, the CEO of the National Arts Festival, about what actually happened, a resident and a food stall owner to find out how this affected them.
